It is my great pleasure, on behalf of the children, governors and staff, to welcome you to the family of St Anne’s Catholic Primary School in Lambeth.
We hope that the information provided on our website will help you to gain an understanding of our expectation for high standards, our school mission and of our Gospel values.
St Anne’s is a happy, vibrant, multicultural and multi-faith community with a strong commitment to ensure Christ is at the centre of all we do.
We recognise and value the partnership between school, home and church and are committed to living out our mission statement and ensuring it is at the heart of all we do. Our school motto ‘Let the light of Christ shine in our school’ embodies all we do.
Working in partnership with the parish of St Anne’s and with parents and carers, we aim to provide an excellent education for all pupils living in our community. We have a welcoming, dedicated and caring staff, all whom endeavour to provide the finest educational experiences, a broad and balanced curriculum, creativity and challenge and a wide range of exciting opportunities for every child to reach their full potential.
We continue to teach the children to follow the path of Jesus through our Mission. Everyone at St Anne’s understands that growing in the love of God and His creation, learning in hope and faith and living the mission statement is the strength of what we are.
In developing the ‘whole’ child, our holistic and inclusive approach towards education provides a foundation for us to grow life-long learners. We want to ensure that each child has the opportunity to grow in self-confidence and develop themselves through healthy engagement with risk, problem-solving and self-discovery. The children will aspire to the same goals in life, but everyone’s journey is different with its own details. We believe that knowledge, questioning and communicating come together as a basis of a great education and support the children to discover the path in which they seek.
We are extremely proud of our school; a fabulous learning environment for all our children and staff.
We look forward to welcoming our parents, grandparents, carers, friends, governors and visitors to our wonderful school.
God Bless,
Mr Hilton and team at St. Anne’s.
The original buildings of St Anne’s school were opened in 1892 by Reverend William Brown. Emily King, a parishioner of the church, bequeathed £4350 in her will which paid for the school to be built. The original school was on Kennington Lane. The school was extended in 1932 with the addition of two new classrooms. These rooms are still standing.
The school as it stands today was built and opened in 1997 following the purchase of the site of the neighbouring bus garage on Durham Street. Following the opening of the new school, the old school was demolished. All that remains of the original building is the “1932 block”.The school has been extended since then with the addition of two further classrooms and a first-floor extension above key stage 1. This extension now houses our Inclusion Suite.
Our website is your first opportunity to find out lots of information about our school but, we would love you to visit us if you are thinking of choosing our school for your child to experience the school environment and ethos for yourselves. I would be delighted to give you a tour and provide you with an opportunity to see, first-hand, the experiences that our children have at St Anne’s Catholic Primary School. Simply contact our school office to make an appointment.
