British Values

All schools have a duty to actively promote the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs. One way in which we try and do this is through open discussion of current affairs.

Our Y4 classes took an interest in the EU Referendum because their topic in the spring term was Europe. They explored the arguments shared by both sides and used them to inform their own decision as to whether they thought the UK should leave or remain in the European Union. They were also lucky enough to be invited to the Speakers House by children’s newspaper First News. They participated in a debate about the referendum
